ParticipantOne of the most meaning way we can make writing effective is by letting children write about their daily activities like a record of how their day went and by doing that maybe that would be one way they could let in their loved ones or favourite person that misses most of their day exactly what they were up to, it can be for a parent or a friend etc.

ParticipantMultilingualism is best in this day and age for children because it best prepared them for the future and we as parents and teachers should pave the way for them to have a better chance in future by introducing as many languages as we could

ParticipantI guess I would stop expecting my kids to learn completely on their own I could maybe chip in here and there what I’m trying to say is trust them with the learning and just chip in to assess if they progressing and try and encourage positive learning and always be patient and consistent.

ParticipantI would say lack of interest in the language itself, when a learner don’t get excited with the language I think that’s where the blockage begin, I think I would somehow try to find a link anywhere I could between two languages to somehow ignite an interest on the learner 😅 hopefully that would do the trick

ParticipantI host story reading where I work every month so from now on I will make it up on myself to keep the interaction going and stress the importance of reading for children to the parents and try to create a story reading support group where I will share tips and how a parent can track progress of the child to becoming an independent reader

ParticipantWith my son I can clearly tell he is an emergency reader, when I read to him he recognises things on the picture and tells me what he thinks is happening by what he sees

ParticipantIt is really important for teachers to understand it, it’s a useful tool to track or measure the learner’s progress and advancement

ParticipantReading aloud to children for me is first of all doing so with intension of igniting focus and interest in those IAM reading to hence using different sounds for things and for dialogues to express in my own understanding how the story goes really helps in achieving that.

Participant1.When kids are exposed to reading only at school that takes away the fun part of reading because there won’t be any enjoyment associated with reading since a school setting is around ‘school work’ immediately the child’s focus shifts away from free fun and more to work and focus
2.it is soo important for them to take reading for pleasure in order to associate any kind of reading to be fun and exciting so that even for school reading it won’t be so boring and serious all the time and that could hopefully make learning a bit easier
3.well I’ll make an example with myself, growing up as a child no one from my household read for me but I sense that I was read to as a very small child because I can now from my love of books and reading at school csn tell that maybe, that was initiated by someone to me as a child so with that I grew with the love of books and reading till today I just can’t stay too long without the desire of reading, I did fairly well at school because I never struggled to read and if I say so myself the love of reading made my school days so much easier and fun, so fast forwarding my story, to date I have two beautiful boys ranging from 4years and 2 with my love of reading books it was love at first sight of books for them, and they all the time remind me to read to them by picking a book and bringing it to me to read for them, sometimes magazines and newspapers, so you see my love of reading was easily worn off to them, which us sooo precious ❤

ParticipantI would say like in this day and age children’s attention is drawn by everyday occurrence, try to find whatever topic as a teacher you and know that is trending on social media and spark an informal speaking session in class to find out what they really truly know about it and also trying to find out how far they could go with the topic and at all times try and bring it back from drifting away by asking safe relevant questions, I personally think even the most quiet child in class would gladly participate

ParticipantThe jackal and the wolf: I learnt that cheating and lying never get you anywhere,
The hare and the tortoise race: I was taught perseverance by that story things in life take time and never hurry for the end results
There are some good ones that I can’t remember right now but those two were on the top of my mind
